Ahhhhh! A Spider!

Ok, so there really wasn't a spider. However, there has been enough research going on about spiders in my classroom to set my off to wanting to climb the walls! Everywhere I turned, my students were highly engaged in research through the use of a webquest.

Note - A webquest is an inquiry based learning tool, which is online. Students are posed with questions and links to find the answers.

Here is a website that further explains the ins and out, as well as the benefits of using webquests with students. My favorite part though, is that it puts the learning in the hands of the students!

  1. Sometimes I wonder if I should use a webquest in one of the weekly assignments w/ TIE grad students. What do you think?

  2. I think it would be a great idea. One thing I wish I would have learned to do in my masters is create webquests. I only just started using them this quarter because I am trying to find new ways to let the students take responsibility for their own learning. Webquests, in my opinion, seem to be the best way to do that. It guides them without the teacher being the sage on the stage...in this aspect, I truly become a facilitator of learning, rather than the teacher at the podium.
