Animoto, especially in May (PAC and End of Year video), is my best friend in terms of online tools.
What is it? Animoto is a free online video maker. All you do is upload pictures, follow all the steps laid out for you, and viola....you have a video! It is so much faster and more convenient when you don't have time to do a complete photostory.
Free? Does it get any better? Yes! Animot allows you to sign up for a basic account, which only allows for 15-30 photos to be uploaded. However, it also has an option to sign up for an educator's account, which enables you to upload as many pictures as you want. I have the educator's account, and it has definitely come in handy.
Here are some examples:
Hi Amanda. We are now a part of the "alliance." I am familiar with Animoto. I have never used it though. This goes nicely with my blog as well. The major focus of my blog is to simply explore the different uses of technology in the classroom. Animoto is impressive. But just like many other online tools, I haven't figured out how to harness its power yet. In terms of creating an assignment with specific learning goals, I'm not quite sure what to do with it. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteOne way I have used it is during math. In one of our math units, students have to understand the difference between plane shapes and solid shapes, label angels, and label various shapes. I give each group a camera to walk around the school with and take pictures of these things. When they come back, we load them onto the computer onto the student share drive. I do not make accounts for them because they are so young, so I log into my account ahead of time for them. All they do is upload each image. Then, they select a text feature to put before the images (they have to order them in a meaningful manner as well). They explain briefly what each figure is, what angel it has, etc.
